Tubeless cycle tyres are an increasingly popular choice for bicycle riders all over the world. Constructed to hold air within the tyre itself rather than a tube, they give the rider added flexibility, eliminate tube pinching and reduce the heat friction caused between the traditional tube-tyre setup.

What are tubeless tyres?

Our tubeless tyre technology is available in a wider variety of tyre categories.  We offer tubeless tyre technology across the board in our Maxxis cycle range including in our road tyres, Enduro tyres, downhill tyres, cross country tyres, cyclocross tyres, gravel tyres, mountain bike tyres and BMX tyres.

The tubeless tyres are constructed using a micron thin butyl liner on the inside of the tyre, to aid air retention with the body of the tyre.  The tyre may or may not have an additional butyl insert at the bead of the tyre, which just insures the tyre remains seated securely to the rim of the wheel under extremely deformation such as rock strikes or landing after a table top or jump.

Why choose tubeless tyres?

There are a number of reasons to go Tubeless.

Firstly, by removing the inner tube, you not only save on the weight, but you also remove the chances of a puncture ruining your ride, due to all the air escaping from the tyre and you having to stop your ride and repair your puncture.

Going tubeless enables the foreign object that punctures a hole in the tyre when set up tubeless, to either be left on the ground or taken into the air volume of the tyre.  The sealant then seals the hole, with minimal air loss, and you carry on riding not even noticing you ever had a puncture.
