Maxxis Launches HP5 at Silverstone

Maxxis International, in conjunction with Stapleton’s Tyre Services, has launched its latest high performance passenger car tyre complete with best-in-class, A grade status for wet braking performance. A two day event was designed to give Maxxis dealers the opportunity to test out Maxxis’ latest high performance tyre, the Premitra HP5, on Britain’s very own high speed circuit at Silverstone. The event also provided the perfect setting for dealers and members of the press to discover more about the research and development behind what’s set to become Maxxis’ new flagship passenger car tyre, designed specifically for the European market.

Maxxis International, in conjunction with Stapleton’s Tyre Services, has launched its latest high performance passenger car tyre complete with best-in-class, A grade status for wet braking performance.  The two day event was designed to give Maxxis dealers the opportunity to test out Maxxis’ latest high performance tyre, the Premitra HP5, on Britain’s very own high speed circuit at Silverstone. The event also provided the perfect setting for dealers and members of the press to discover more about the research and development behind what’s set to become Maxxis’ new flagship passenger car tyre, designed specifically for the European market.

Due to its world leading technology, design and outstanding performance, the Premitra HP5 tyre delivers excellent wet and dry grip due to its Full Silica tread compound; improved rolling resistance due to the multiple variable pitch tread pattern and groove design; and optimal handling and stability at high speed due to the central ribs. Enhanced water dispersal and aquaplaning resistance is another key feature of the tyre.

With the Premitra HP5 performing on a par with premium European tyre brand alternatives and delivering best-in-class, A grade label regulation performance for wet braking, combined with a more attractive price point for end consumers and better profit margins for dealers, this weeks’s event marks an important milestone for Maxxis, as managing director, Derek McMartin confirms: “Tyres are a distress purchase and with the cost of tyres in general rising, the passenger car market is calling out for a tyre that performs as you would expect a premium brand tyre to but offers cash-strapped consumers a more value-for-money price point. And that’s exactly where the Premitra HP5 fits in. It doesn’t compromise on performance and blows the competition out of the water when it comes to both cost to the consumer and the all-important profit margin for dealers.

“This week’s event has been designed to introduce the Premitra HP5 tyre and to educate dealers about the benefits of stocking and selling the product. Silverstone has provided the perfect testing ground for the tyres to be showcased and they haven’t disappointed. This week marks a huge step forward in ensuring Maxxis maintains its reputation for having one of the widest ranges on the market and offering a quality and value-for-money based alternative for drivers.”

During the development phase, the Premitra HP5 was put to the test on both a Porsche 911 and a BMW 5 Series at the Maxxis testing ground in Shanghai. When compared against the HP5’s predecessor, the PRO R1, wet braking improved by 10 per cent, which delivers best-in-class, A grade label regulation status. Wet handling also improved by 7 per cent, rolling resistance by 9 per cent and dry braking by 2 per cent.

The response from dealers at the launch event was overwhelmingly positive, as Chris Logan, national accounts manager at Stapleton’s Tyre Services explains: “Maxxis puts a lot of effort into understanding the gaps that exist in the European tyre market and invests heavily in research and development in order to produce quality tyres that appeal to consumers. Giving our dealers the chance to drive on a set of the new, factory-fresh HP5s shows that we mean business when it comes to putting our money where our mouth is. We’re proud of the tyre’s superior performance and, accompanied with the unrivalled service and bespoke retail marketing solutions that come as standard with Stapleton’s, it’s pretty safe to say that the dealers who attended this event and spent some time on the track don’t need any more convincing either.

“I’d like to thank all of our dealers who made the effort to travel to Silverstone this week and share in the huge excitement that is the Maxxis Premitra HP5.”

In addition to putting the pedal to the metal, dealers who attended the event took part in a presentation from both Maxxis and Stapleton’s, which highlighted the vision for the Maxxis brand and the ongoing opportunities available to dealers supplied via Stapleton’s Tyre Services. The adrenalin fuelled day-time activities on day one were followed by an Indian banquet with ‘pub quiz’ style entertainment at the nearby Whittlebury Hall.
