UCI BMX World Cup R2

The Pure BMX Racing Elite riders headed to Manchester’s indoor track for the 2nd round of the 2016 UCI BMX Supercross World Cup, and with Rio just around the corner the stakes are high as national teams are selecting their riders for the world championships and ultimately the Olympic Games.

Maxxis rider Kyle Evans was on great form as he scored his first ever UCI World Cup podium on home soil. Speaking of his weekend, Evans said:

“Manchester World cup was a successful event for me. After having a disappointing result in Argentina and not feeling 100% due to sickness and injury, I really wanted to piece the puzzle together, certainly at my home training facility

I was lucky enough to ride in the TT on the Saturday after sitting in rank 17th in the overall SX rankings. I qualified in 7th with a few slight mistakes during the lap but overall I were happy with this result.

Sunday I started off slower than I would have liked too but lap by lap I became stronger and started to pull myself together. Made it to the main event and finished 2nd behind Liam Phillips, this has given me a great confidence boost for the rest of the season. I am currently 3rd in the current SX rankings which is a great place to build from.

The weekend also saw another podium for Pure BMX Racing, this time in the women’s elite, as team mate Simone Christensen took the 2nd place spot. Speaking of her weekend, Simone said:

“My main goal for the World Cup was to make sure my gates was on point, as there weren’t very good in Argentina.. Already during practise I felt way better on the gate, and I also felt good around the track! Cause I was in top 8 I had Timetrial, where I ended 7th.. It wasn’t great, but I’ve never been the best at TT’s so I was just happy to be in it and not have qualification Motos! The next day I just woke up with a feeling that it was gonna be a good day! And I was right! In my Motos I ended 3-3-2 but with a pretty fast lap in the end which was my plan, cause then I got a better pick for the semi final! I was in semi with the properly 3 top riders at the moment, and finished 4th after them without having not really any struggles with the other 4 riders. In the final was the one time my gate wasn’t good enough, which of course sucks, but I still managed to get out of the first corner as number 3, because of a lot of carnage and me finding the perfect way through the corner! But Alise Post, who was leading, crashed on the very last jump my 3rd place became a 2nd! And there by my first World Cup podium!
