Team Green MX Nationals 2016 Round 1

Following a successful Monster Energy Arenacross tour with Kacey Hird and Lewis Hall finishing second and third respectively in the Super Mini championship it was time to get out in the great outdoors for all four riders representing Team Green Kawasaki Youth.

Maxxis riders Kacey and Lewis were joined by Dylan Woodcock and Jed Etchells for the first round of the MX Nationals at Preston Docks. Both Dylan and Jed sat out the Arenacross tour to have more time to get used to their KXF250’s after moving up from the big wheeled 85cc class.

Team Green Youth Manager Jeff Perrett said: ‘’Considering we’ve just come from the dry and warmth of the Arenacross and how cold it was we’re pleased to be back racing outdoor with our full team line up. Lewis came away second overall and showed blistering speed and his fitness was clear to see. Kacey took a race or two to get back into outdoor mode but looked great considering he was riding his practice bike and we were testing suspension settings under race conditions. Dylan was in a good place too. He was consistently one of the quickest riders on track, particularly at the end of the motos. He just needs to polish up on his starts, which to be fair, got better as the weekend went on and if not for a couple of small mistakes and misfortune had the pace to push for the overall win.

It was a solid weekend for Maxxis-sponsored Kawasaki Team Green Youth at Round 1 of the 2016 MX Nationals

As for Jed, well, I was really impressed with where he’s at considering he’s been off the bike for three months when everyone else has been pushing on. He still has some complications with his ankle, which we hope to get addressed in the next couple of weeks. He’s just got to keep riding like he is and not try to rush it and I think he’ll be at the sharp end come towards the end of April.

We have a couple of weeks to the first Maxxis MXY2 race and that’s our priority championship for Dylan and Jed, so we’ll be ready for that the best we possibly can and hopefully get a good, sound start to our championship. Lewis and Kacey have four weeks to the first Thor British Youth Nationals and then the first European 85cc championship in Denmark the week later. So we’re on target to have everything on point for those first two big races. I’m happy with where we are at the moment, we’re on target to be 100% ready for a long, tough year ahead.”
