Maxxis to headline ACU British Enduro Championship at Ryayader

The Maxxis ACU British Enduro Championship takes place this weekend at Ryayader.

The event, which is being held at Cwmythig Hill, expects to draw large crowds to watch Championship riders compete in the UK’s first “head to head duel”, a short extreme type test with lots of man-made hazards, Rocks, Logs, Tyres etc. The prologue, which will be the first special test of the weekend, will begin at 18:30, with the event expecting to go on until 20:00. As well as the action on the circuit, the weekend looks like it is going to be one not to miss, with top UK commentator, Huw Watkins, commentating on the events, and a number of acts, catering companies and a children’s bouncy castle on hand to keep everyone entertained.

Some of the riders that will be competiing in the event include; Steve Holcombe, Jack Edmondson (recently crowned 2016 World Youth Champion), David Knight (current European Enduro Champion), Tom Sagar, Danny McCanney, Lee Sealey, plus Red Bull Factory KTM rider’s, Jonny Walker and Billy Bolt.

Following the prologue event, the Maxxis ACU British Enduro Championship will start early on Saturday morning and go on to Sunday.

Top locals all set for battle are Tom Sagar (Newtown) & Charlie Evans (Llanidloes) both in the Championship class, while Rhayader’s Adam James, Alex Walton & Marc Evans will all be hoping for good placing’s in the very competitive expert class. There are also classes for clubman, over 40’s, over 50’s Ladies & sportsman riders, with a healthy 180 entries filling up the event. NEW for this event is the introduction of the Sidecar class on the Saturday only, again this is a British Enduro Championship round for the Sidecars. David Williams/Simon Brown (Llanidloes) will no doubt have another battle with rivals Jonathan Williams/Neil James (Llandrindod wells). In the Expert class Martin Rowan/Anthony Mills (Llandrindod Wells) & Nicolas Evans/Alun Evans should both be fighting it out for top honours. The route will be 50 miles per lap with using local forests, plus an Enduro test at Saintwell & a Motocross test at Cwmythig. All classes will complete 2 laps per day, with an extra motocross test at Cwmythig at the end of each day. Following the event on Saturday evening will be presentation of awards for the Sidecar class with the Trevor Evans Memorial Cup being presented to the best local sidecar crew, with the brilliant Paul Dark singing live in the marquee that will also host a licensed bar, beef roast, Rodeo Bull & a children’s Bouncy Castle to keep everyone entertained during the evening.
