Maxxis signs up BTRDA and continues MSA English Rally Championship Title Sponsorship

Tyre giant, Maxxis, is pleased to announce that it is to continue the title sponsorship of the MSA English Rally Championship.

The top ten global tyre manufacturer will also be extending its relationship with the British Trial and Rally Drivers Association (BTRDA) by becoming a sponsor of all associated rallies, a move that’s set to provide Maxxis with greater track-side prominence and even more brand exposure.

Since its inception in 2006, the English Rally Championship has seen some of the most exciting competition in the UK. For 2017, the Maxxis MSA English Rally Championship has expanded to include both gravel and asphalt events and is now open to all stage rally cars. However, it retains its unique class-based scoring system which means that competitors from any of the eight performance classes are eligible to become English Rally Champions.

Attracting in excess of 200 competitors, and thousands of spectators each year, the English Rally Championship represents the perfect platform for Maxxis to increase awareness of its range of high quality tyres, including the acclaimed Victra R19 rally tyre.

Commenting on the announcement, Maxxis managing director, Derek McMartin said: “Securing the title sponsorship with the English Rally Championships last year was a proud moment for Maxxis so we’re of course thrilled to be able to continue our affiliation into 2017. The added bonus of being invited to support the BTRDA Rally Series means that, if it’s not already, the Maxxis brand will soon be synonymous with high performance rally driving in the minds of enthusiasts and professionals alike. We can’t wait to see how the series unfolds over the next year!”

Howard Wilcock, championship co-ordinator, added: “We are very pleased that Maxxis is continuing with its sponsorship of the Maxxis MSA English Rally Championship, and in addition, are now also providing support for the BTRDA Rally Series. It is a big boost for the BTRDA to receive support from a major tyre brand such as Maxxis.”

The 2017 English Rally Championship will include a selection of the best one day forest and asphalt events in England, with the addition of a unique double header weekend, which give competitors the choice to compete on either or both the Nicky Grist Stages and the new Nicky Grist Asphalt Stages. The Asphalt element of the calendar sees the three events grouped together in the middle of the year and includes the Dukeries Rally, which takes place within the confines of Donington Park; an ideal opportunity for sponsors and spectators to see the action.
