James Ellison has been a consistent podium finisher in the opening three rounds of the MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship, scoring a race win at the season opener, showing his determination to lift a maiden title this season with Milwaukee Yamaha.

With a break now until the next round of the Championship at Knockhill next month, James checked in for his latest blog.

Over to James:

Well the run of ‘one good race, one bad race’ seemed to continue into the Oulton Park race when we were forced to retire from race two with an electrical fault. It’s been quite a testing year for us so far with a few small issues happening at the worst time possible, but even with two non-scoring races we are still a very strong fourth in the championship and joint third in the podium credits table so it’s not all bad.

I feel like I’m riding the best I ever have at the minute so I’m very confident that we can stay in the title fight top six going into the Showdown at the end of the season and that’s all that matters really; the real fighting will start in September at Donington Park and hopefully by then I will have got all my bad luck out of the way!

I really feel at home with the Milwaukee Yamaha and have so much fun on it every time I leave the pits and I haven’t felt like this for a long, long time so this break of five weeks is probably going to drag a little to say the least!

On that note though many of you may already know, me and my wife Sarah are expecting our first child in late November and have recently only just announced it to the world. We are so happy and looking forward to a new and exciting chapter in our lives. To be honest this big break couldn’t have come at a better time because we now get to share this time with our families here in the UK and in America where I will be jetting off to soon to join Sarah and her family.

Preparations for Knockhill are very much ongoing and rest assured I will be back ready to continue pushing at the front fitter and more focused than ever!

Before I go I still have a couple of appearances to make at Blade Motorcycles in Swindon (SN2 8DN) from 11am-2pm this Saturday (18th May) and then Jax Motorcycles in York (YO10 3WW) from 10am on Sunday (19th May) so if your free at the weekend pop down (or up) and say hello.

Hope to see some of you there. Ride safe. J
