Coronel Twins Take on Dakar with Maxxis

Maxxis has announced that it will be supporting Tim and Tom Coronel at next year’s Dakar Rally in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The 2015 edition of ‘Le Dakar’ will be the first competition that the twin brothers have competed together in 2009.

Throughout the 2015 event, both Coronel’s will be driving identical buggies that have been developed and built by the team in the Netherlands, with Tim hoping to achieve first place in his category and finish as high as possible in the general ranking. His twin brother, on the other hand, will be steering his buggy to the finish line in Buenos Aires whilst taking on the role of a TV host for RTL Television, right in the heart of the rally.

To be a part of the Dakar Rally for the fourth year running, as well as a sponsor of a couple of the competitions greatest drivers, gives Maxxis the chance to be seen as an important player in the world of motorsport, as UK managing director, Derek McMartin confirms: “It is great to be able to sponsor a couple of the motorsports greatest drivers and be a part of the Dakar Rally for the fourth year. Not only does it give the brand a fantastic platform to showcase the capabilities of our tyres, it gives us the chance to gain greater recognition all around the world and to be seen at the very highest level of off-road competition.”

“The Dakar Rally is widely recognised as the toughest test tyres can take, with punctures and other structural damage a constant threat, so to be able to demonstrate our strengths and products to an international audience and give drivers the performance they deserve, is fantastic.”
