The 2013 Maxxis British Drift Championship kicked off in style at Lydden Hill back in April, and in just a few days time we’ll be off to Pembrey circuit for round two!

With the competition continuing to heat up and a few key figures returning to scene in time for the championship’s trip to the South Wales circuit you can be sure that this will be an event not to be missed.

One of the key headlines is the return of the infamous Ben “Bon Bon” Broke-Smith – a legend in the UK drifting scene and a driver that never fails to impress both the crowd and the judges. Known for his incredible ability to produce a seemingly endless amount of tyre smoke, Bon Bon is determined to take up where he left off and head straight to the top of the leaderboard.

Also joining us at round 2 is UK drifting stalwart Walton Smith who will be taking a seat on the BDC judging panel as a guest judge.

Walton is well known within the UK and European drift community for both his ability behind the wheel and the unique car that he pilots – the Jap Performance Parts RB26 powered Subaru Impreza. Walton’s experience will make him a welcome addition to the judging panel alongside BDC judging veterans Rich “Chunk” Newton and Sid Crowfoot – with the competition getting fiercer at each round we can guarantee that they’ll have some difficult decisions to call!

While the majority of entrants are located in the UK and Ireland, some travel from further afield in order to try their hand in the most competitive drift championship in Europe. At round 2 we will be welcoming the Black Smoke Racing Team from Finland in their unique, one-of-a-kind diesel powered Mercedes drift car (the only diesel car to ever enter the BDC!).

The guys are travelling the best part of 4000 miles each way – an amazing commitment and a true reminder of how much drifting means to some people. We can’t wait to welcome them into the pits and see how they get on against the BDC regulars.

Located near Swansea, Pembrey circuit is a track with a lot of history and heritage. A popular testing ground for Formula 1 teams in the past (with the likes of Ayrton Senna having driven there before) it has also played host to various other forms of motoring including truck racing and, of course, drifting!

With the weather forecast looking promising and a thrilling new Top 32 battle format scheduled for the Semi-Pro and Pro classes Round 2 of the 2013 Maxxis British Drift Championship is set to be an unmissable event – be sure to grab your tickets from theĀ British Drift Championship website!
