Maxxis Supports Macmillan and Its Fight Against Cancer

Felixstowe-based tyre manufacturer, Maxxis International, has recently helped Macmillan Cancer Support take a big step towards the construction of a new Chemotherapy and Oncology Unit at Ipswich Hospital.

The new unit will help provide much needed support to people affected by cancer, and will be part funded through the sales of this year’s motorsport and Maxxis Babes calendars at Autosport International.

A grand total of £2,350 raised by Maxxis will help Macmillan provide local cancer sufferers with a purpose-built centre large enough to treat more than double the number of patients than the current facility does. It will also improve the privacy and dignity of patients during treatment and enable loved ones to remain with them during treatment.

Maxxis’ fundraising efforts are clearly something that staff at the new unit greatly appreciates, as Macmillan Suffolk and Waveney fundraising manager, Mandy Jordan confirms: “The money raised by Maxxis from the sales of the 2015 calendars has been greatly received by everyone involved in the new unit at Ipswich Hospital. Macmillan simply couldn’t do what it does without the loyal and committed supporters that fundraise and make voluntary donations, so I would like to take this opportunity to thank the team at Maxxis for their ongoing support.”

The combination of the Maxxis sponsored motorsport stars and its very own ‘Maxxis Babes’ on hand at this year’s show to sign copies of the calendars, which proved irresistible to many visitors. Crowds of fans helped the tyre manufacturer raise thousands of pounds for Macmillan, which pleased Maxxis UK managing director, Derek McMartin as he confirms: “Macmillan works tirelessly to support people and families through one of the toughest challenges anyone could ever face, so to be able to offer our support is a fantastic feeling. Money raised from this year’s calendars is going towards the construction of a new Macmillan Chemotherapy and Oncology Unit at Ipswich Hospital, so it is extremely satisfying to see how they money we raise is being used to help improve the lives of patients and families.”

Maxxis plans on continuing its support for Macmillan Cancer Support during different events throughout the year and help improve the lives of people suffering with cancer.
