Three years ago, Maxxis awarded Kilnhurst Tyres in Mexborough with Centre of Excellence status. Established in 1991, the family-run dealership celebrated its new title and refit with a fun filled open day, with special appearances from the Maxxis Babes and British Drift Championship race team, It’s a Drift Life.
Last month, Maxxis revisited the dealership to catch up with owner, Neil Hunt, about his experience with the scheme to date.
How has your experience as a Centre of Excellence been so far?
“In a word. Brilliant! We received a whole range of Maxxis marketing materials and signage, which allows us to show off our partnership with the company. Maxxis has a great reputation for quality and value, so we feel really fortunate to be associated.”
What impact has this had on your sales?
“We’ve received an amazing increase in sales, since being recognised as a Maxxis Centre of Excellence. Last month, we sold just short of 500 units, which is a massive step up from what we were selling before we received the refit. Our Maxxis tyres are now in such high demand, we’re seeing a lot of repeat business and customers specifying Maxxis when they book in.”
What other advantages have come from being recognised as a Centre of Excellence?
“The Centre of Excellence status has brought in more customers, and helped to firm up their trust too. I think it is 100% down to recognition; customers feel reassured by our affiliation with the brand. The Maxxis website is also really helpful, particularly the Find a Stockist function.”
What drew you to Maxxis?
“The quality, performance and value they offer is second to none, and I whole-heartedly believe in the product, which makes us even more proud to represent the brand. The profit margin opportunities are also great.
I’ve personally tested the HP5 tyre at Silverstone, which was a great experience. The fact that I am able to try out the tyres means I am in a better position to recommend the products to potential customers.
The back-up and support we receive from Maxxis is also second to none. The lifetime guarantee is so important, and has allowed us to attract and maintain many customers; it essentially allows them to put their trust in us. The warranty is definitely a brilliant selling point – customers love it.”
