Ard Rock Enduro

Cementing its position as mountain biking’s go to tyre brand, Maxxis UK has revealed plans to sponsor one of the most iconic gatherings of professional riders and mountain bike enthusiasts in the UK.

The Ard Rock Mountain Bike Festival, which will take place during the first weekend of August, is the latest high profile name to be added to Maxxis UK’s impressive cycle sponsorship portfolio, which already includes flatland specialist Lee Musslewhite and Pure BMX.

The festival, which was described last year as ‘the biggest participation event of 2015’ by Singletrack Magazine’s Chipps Chippendale, received 1000 entries within 15 seconds of rider tickets going on sale. The event is now at capacity with 3000 riders confirmed to take part in the ‘gnarly rock-strewn trails and epic loop’ specifically designed for the event in the stunning Yorkshire Dales National Park. Live music and entertainment, along with expo stands from some of mountain biking’s most prestigious brands, will be on offer throughout the weekend in the event village adding to the festival atmosphere synonymous with the gathering.

Joe Rafferty, founder of Ard Rock Enduro and Mountain Bike Festival explains the pertinence of welcoming Maxxis on board as the event’s newest sponsor: “Maxxis is associated with high performance mountain biking so welcoming the brand on board as our newest sponsor, alongside Santa Cruz and Mavic, was a proud day for the Ard Rock team. The event in August is shaping up to be the best yet, with professional riders flying in from all over the world to compete and experience what the rugged terrain of the Yorkshire Dales has to offer. We’re looking forward to this year’s Ard Rock and witnessing the Maxxis mountain bike tyre range in action.”

Upon signing the contract with Ard Rock, Derek McMartin, Maxxis UK’s managing director said he was ‘thrilled to add such an iconic and energetic event’ to the Maxxis sponsorship portfolio. He continued: “Over the last few years Ard Rock Enduro and Mountain Bike Festival has set itself apart from other events of its kind by offering riders and festival goers the opportunity to push their equipment, skill and tenacity to the limit, surrounded by some of the UK’s most breath-taking landscapes. And all while enjoying the social aspect all the entertainment and live music has to offer.

“Maxxis is the go-to tyre brand for mountain bikers the world over and, with our range of mountain bike tyres dramatically increased in recent months and soon to be available to purchase directly from the Maxxis UK website, being involved with such a high profile and world renowned event couldn’t come at a better time.”

The sponsorship agreement will see Maxxis UK brand visibility throughout the Ard Rock Enduro weekend between 5th to 7th August 2016. Maxxis Tyre specialists will also be on hand to provide riders with technical tyre support throughout the competition.
