Victra Sport 5 Tyre Test Results

If you’re looking for ultra-high-performance tyres and you’re undecided between the iconic Michelin Pilot Sport 4, the Pirelli P Zero or perhaps something a little more budget-friendly, you can always look to tyre tests for the answer.

2020 Auto Bild SUV Summer Tyre Test
The 2020 Auto Bild AllRad SUV / 4x4 tyre tested the Victra Sport 5 along with premium and mid-range tyre brands in size 255/55 R18 tyres.

Maxxis achieved joint 6th place but achieving first place in the mud traction test, second in aquaplaning behind the Michelin Pilot Sport 4 SUV and third in price, standing out as one of the most affordable tyres in the test.

AMS 18" Summer Tyre Test
German magazine Auto Motor und Sport (AMS) conducted a summer tyre test of 11 premium and mid-range 225/45 R18 tyres.

The 5th place position achieved by Maxxis sounds a little average until you realise that the Maxxis tyres were the most affordable tyres in the top half of the leaderboard (by a good 15% to the next-cheapest tyre), and that the underdog Maxxis tyres were, in fact, nestled snugly up to the performance of the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 5, Michelin Pilot Sport 4, Continental PremiumContact 6, Pirelli P Zero PZ4 and Bridgestone Turanza T005.

The Victra Sport 5 deftly completed a higher average dry handling speed than the test winner, Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 5, and had a higher average wet handling speed than the Continental PremiumContact 6, Pirelli P Zero PZ4 and the Bridgestone Turanza T005, not to mention the rest of the mid-range field too which included Nokian, Falken, Nexen, Toyo and Giti tyres.

To see the comprehensive results of the test, click the article below:

ADAC Tyre Test 2020
ADAC, another German authority, conducted a 12-month tyre test of 16 different tyres 225/40 R18.

Tied first place were the Continental Premium Contact 6 and the Michelin Pilot Sport 4 with overall points of 7.8, and tied for the next position were the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 5 and, you guessed it, the Maxxis Victra Sport 5, both with points of 7.6.

Evo Tyre Test 2019
An ultra-high-performance tyre test conducted in 2019 by Evo magazine incorporated the Victra Sport 5 but couldn’t officially include it in the test results as the size tested wasn’t available on the open market at the time. Nevertheless, the following was published in Evo magazine:

“[The Victra Sport 5] would have beaten the Pirelli to the top spot. Like the Pirelli, it has great feel and performs very well in the wet and the dry, and it also happens to be the least expensive tyre here. It was top in some tests and near the top in most, and scored well subjectively too.” - Evo magazine, September 2019

The official winner of the test, the Pirelli P Zero, achieved a total rating of 97.9%. Our Victra Sport 5 was rated 99.1%.

Victra Sport 5 Tyre Reviews

Sometimes the best reviews come from drivers just like you. Take a look at our user reviews below, pulled from third-party review site

 Audi S3 driver,, December 2020:

"Audi s3. These tyres were amazing in the rain. Fast corners, progressive break away, excellent braking. Very high confidence in wet conditions. They need to be properly inflated. OEM requires 39 psi front. Dry cornering is also excellent. Surprisingly rides softer/smoother than the Continentals on before. Not as sticky however when launching. In summary, fantastic road/track tire. Not ideal for drag strip use. Will buy again for sure."

BMW 335d driver,, June 2020:

"I'm very surprised from this tyres. I was a little bit skeptical about them, but very impressed. My previous tyres were Bridgestone S001 and I can say that Maxxis VS5 are better. For me these tyes are upper mid-level tires, especially taking into consideration the price."

Seat Leon Cupra R driver,, April 2020:

“Great tyres for the money. Way better than PS4 although take some scrubbing in which to me means they will be a better more grippy tyre in the long run. Had PS4 previously and the sidewalls perished very quickly and were not as grippy. Converted 4 friends to these tyres by taking them out in my car, with PS4 prior and now the VS5. Great tyre will buy again and again.”

Audi A6 TDI Quattro driver,, February 2020:

“The Maxxis tyres ‘drive’ well, no longer ‘following’ the poor road surfaces and have great adhesion in the wet as long as you don’t allow the ‘big second turbo’ to take over. Most impressed. 8mm of tread as well, certainly as good as the Pirellis fitted as standard. Jolly good price as well compared to the over-priced popular tyres. Will I use Maxxis again? Yes I will. Most impressed with them.”

BMW 330d M Sport driver,, February 2020:

“Regardless of price these are a great tyre. Transfer excessive torque really well. Traction light is hardly on. Very impressed.”

Audi A6 driver,, April 2019:

"Very good tyres, good handling at higher speed on wet and dry roads."

Volkswagen Golf R driver,, July 2019:

“Huge improvement over my Bridgestone Potenza RE003's. Comfort and noise is the largest improvement, but nothing has been sacrificed in terms of handling, dry, or wet grip. Very progressive at the edge of traction as well although I really have struggled to push it there with the amount of grip these have along with the 4wd on the Golf R. Can't forget to mention that it really does look great too. Hugely impressed with what Maxxis have done here.”

Ford Focus RS,, December 2019:

"This tyre is impressive and surprisingly much better than my expectation, quick steering response and grippy on all condition, I would take this tyre next time"
