It's A Drift Life

Its A Drift Life

The ‘It’s a Drift Life’ race team was formed in 2013 to compete in the Maxxis British Drift Championship and the Monster Energy King of Europe Pro Series.

The team comprises of talented drifter Christian Lewis, who managed to work his way from semi-pro class to super pro in two excellent seasons, and fellow relative newcomer to the drifting scene, Ryan Cooper.

In just one year, team owners Matthew Jarvis & Christian Lewis have turned their dream to create a professional drift team competing at the highest levels in both the UK & Europe into reality, and built a successful business at the same time.

Christian Lewis is not only a talented drifter, but also the managing director and owner of the It’s a Drift Life team. Seen as a mentor to his team mate, Christian emulates everything a Maxxis drifter should be. Christian’s drifting career began at 26, when he made the gutsy decision to drive to Lousada in Portugal for the KD Drift event. He turned up to the day with spares and tyres in the back, and came away with a decent result. Christian decided to compete in the Maxxis British Drift Championship in 2011 and has never looked back. His career highlights include his first season, when he successfully made the switch from semi pro to pro, and the following season where he won the pro-class championship and effectively guaranteed his place in the super pro category.

Still a relative newcomer to the drifting scene, Ryan Cooper’s passion for drifting was born out of a love of all cars Japanese. A Nissan apprentice, Ryan bought himself a couple of cars to modify and test on track days. Things developed into something more serious when he went to Japfest in his Nissan 350Z and noticed a drifting session going on. Seeing what he considered to be pure fun gaining credibility as a highly competitive motorsport instantly grabbed Ryan’s attention, and then got him hooked. Ryan quickly sold his Nissan 350Z to buy a drift car and the rest, as they say, is history. Away from drifting, Ryan is an Aerial Erector Instructor for the Royal Air Force. With the RAF’s backing, 2014 saw Ryan compete in his full competitive season in the Maxxis British Drift Championship, where he secured his place in the newly formed Pro-Am class for 2015.
