MXGB R2 Report

The day started off great for the team, with local hero Tommy Searle picking up the top qualifying time - a good 2 seconds on 2nd place.

It was fortune shortly held as a big crash in turn 1 of the first MX1 race saw the Brit collide with the fence and was joined on the floor with several other riders and bikes. Surprising to everyone, Tommy managed to get back on the bike and valiantly fight his way through the majority of the pack, bringing home an incredibly respectable 9th place considering the crash (see the video for the full crash!)

In MX2 it was highly anticipated to see Mel Pocock return after his hand injury a year ago at the first round of 2015. His first appearance showed great form, and apart from a few issues in race 1 it was clear to see that Mel had regained full confidence as he took his speed and technical skill into race 2, fighting with the top positions and eventually securing a 5th place. James Cottrell continued to work on his speed and consistency with a top 10 finish in race 2, while Reece Desoer put in solid laps working on his first year of the British MX Championship.

In the second MX1 race Tommy was taking no prisoners, and after carefully manouvering the first corner he was able to set his sights on a clean and flawless race. After showing a true display of speed and skill the combination of his Race win and hard-fought 9th place he was deservedly rewarded with a 2nd place overall. Despite losing the red plate Tommy only sits a few points behind the new plate holder Shaun Simpson.
