Maxxis Signs up to Support Kawasaki MXGP Team

Maxxis has announced a new deal to sponsor Steve Dixon Racing in the Global MXGP Series and the Maxxis British Motocross Championship for 2015.

The deal is an extension of Maxxis’ ongoing commitment to the Kawasaki Motors UK Racing programme, which sees Maxxis Tyres aligned with all KMUK’s racing activity, and is a move that is sure to spark the interest of all motocross fans.

Maxxis’ support for Steve Dixon Racing follows news that the team will also see the return of Max Anstie, who has recently achieved his first MX2 Grand Prix win, and Mel Pocock in 2015. Both riders will compete in the 18 round World Championship as well as the 8 round Maxxis British Championship.

With riders, machinery and tyres more than capable of securing one or more race series, the announcement is great news for Maxxis, as managing director, Derek McMartin confirms: “We are really pleased to be able to support Steve Dixon Racing in the 2015 series of MXGP. As well as giving us a fantastic platform to showcase the capabilities of our motocross tyres, supporting the team enables us to demonstrate our strengths and products to an international audience. This all adds to strengthen our position when taking on the leaders in the tyres industry.”

“With Max Anstie achieving his first Grand Prix win in Belgium in the 2014 MX2 GP season, we are all looking forward to seeing him carrying this form into the 2015 MXGP series. We’ll be providing factory support to pre-season testing events, as well as the main GP rounds, and working extremely closely with Kawasaki and the team to help them achieve the results they deserve.”

“Initial testing undertaken by Steve and the team has already shown that our off-road tyres are performing better than previous sponsors, so we are anticipating some of the best results the team has achieved at next year’s series.”

Max and Mel will compete in both MXGP Championship and Maxxis British Championship in the MX2 class on Kawasaki KX250F bikes, and will run on a mix of the dual compound Maxxcross SI M7311/SI M7312, the dual compound Maxxcross IT Dual M7317/IT Dual M7318, and the exclusive sand and mud tyres, Maxxcross SM M7303/M7308.
