Lee Dunham Launches Off-Road Race School

Legendary British Motorcross Champion, Lee Dunham, has launched his very own motocross academy in Baynham Court Farm, Lower Wick. The launch of the Lee Dunham Racing (LDR) training facility comes following an inspiring 23 year motocross career for the rider that saw him win 7 coveted major MX championships, as well as 5 IMBA championship titles.

Lee opened the facility on Wednesday 30th July, with a practise day dedicated to children aged 6-16, with a passion for motocross. Lee was on hand throughout the day, giving on-going support to the children that needed it.

Lee made the decision to retire from racing in 2013 to concentrate on giving amateurs the chance to follow in his footsteps and make their dreams a reality. After taking the crown at last year’s AMCA British MX Championship for the final time as he confirmed: “Launching the LDR training facility is a step into new territory for me, and it’s a real buzz. Having completed 23 years of competitive racing, it is great to be able to give amateurs the opportunity to follow in my footsteps.”

“The practise day was a complete success. There was a fantastic turn out with 40 kids eager to jump on the bikes from the moment they arrived, and none of them wanted to leave at the end of the day. It’s rare to have a perfect day of competing and it was great to have everything going off without a hitch. Getting the chance to be a part of some of the kids first ever training session was very rewarding, and it was even better being able to see such a vast improvement as the day went on. I want to take this opportunity to thank the Kawasaki Motors UK Team, Jeff, Dylan, Maxxis Tyres, Factory Pink, Team Apico LPE Kawasaki, as well as the caterers, photographers, the locals, council, and most importantly the kids that came.”

The LDR training facility is open to all levels of ability and aspiration, and welcomes anyone from the age of 4 upwards. Riders have the choice of small group sessions, with a maximum of 8 participants, or an intensive one-to-one training day, which is available in nationwide locations. Using a wealth of competitive experience to teach every single session, the LDR training facility is a once in a lifetime experience for riders to have the chance to gain valuable instruction from a motocross legend.

Being able to continue supporting one of the most famous figures in motorsport is extremely rewarding for Maxxis, as managing director, Derek McMartin confirms: “We are really pleased to be continuing our support for Lee now he’s taking on some very different challenges, and to be a part of the LDR Training facility. It was a pleasure to be invited to attend the launch, and be able to see Lee in action. The team at Maxxis wish him all the best in the future and look forward to see the LDR Training Facility become just as successful as the founder himself.”
