Having successfully established the brand with both race and
off-road motorcycling fans, tyre manufacturer Maxxis International
is renewing its association with two factory teams in top UK series
for 2011.
Continuing as headline sponsor of the Maxxis ACU British Motocross
Championship for this season and on to 2013 inclusive, Maxxis is
also renewing its partnership with Lincolnshire-based Maxxis
Henderson LPE Kawasaki. The team is going from strength to
strength with rising Estonian MX1 star Gert Krestinov signing up
for his second season in the UK as part of the Official Kawasaki
Motors UK motocross team.
Riding a KX450F in both the Maxxis ACU British Motocross
Championship and the Red Bull Pro Nationals, the talented
20-year-old will also be fielded in selected GPs. The team,
which has big plans in preparation for the coming season, will also
be contesting the MX2 class with Bryan MacKenzie and Welsh talent
Connor Walkley.
Also receiving Maxxis support in 2011 is Maxxis Apico
Suzuki. The team has been set up by Rob Hooper, who has been
part of the MX2 scene for 25 years, and is possibly one of his
strongest ever outfits. The new Maxxis Apico Suzuki team will
concentrate on the MX2 class with Kayne Lamont and Steven Clarke, a
former world 85cc championship title holder, riding the Suzuki
RMZ-250.
In the British Superbike Championship (BSB) and road racing Maxxis
is again sponsoring MSS Colchester Kawasaki, after a thrilling
first season working together. BSB star Stuart Easton has
signed for the factory team for 2011, saying he is massively
looking forward to riding the new Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R and being
reunited with his old team. The former British Supersport
champion and Superbike race winner last rode for the official
Kawasaki UK squad in 2008.
"Ever since the opportunity came up to run in the MSS squad I've
been really excited," said the 27-year-old Scot. "I know the
team from last time around and they have massive potential.
Since then I've learnt a lot and have racked up wins and podiums,
so it feels like a good time to be reuniting."
Maxxis has supported the British motorcycle industry for 30
years. Its sponsorship of the Maxxis ACU British Motocross
Championship's MX1 and MX2 classes since 2001 has helped the
company take the off-road sector by storm and led to Maxxis
becoming the tyre of choice with club racers, while the fact that
factory teams are now choosing to run Maxxis tyres can only serve
to reinforce its position in the sector.
