When the Maxxis ACU British Motocross Championship returned to
action at the impressive Desertmartin venue in Northern Ireland
following an eight-week break, teams supported by title sponsor
Maxxis made the most of their tyres on a drying track to end the
day well inside the top ten.
In the MX2 Class Maxxis Apico Suzuki rider Steven Clarke
finished in fifth overall, one of his best results since returning
to the UK to race. A consistent build-up of pace saw him
cross the line in a respectable seventh in moto one and while a
crash in the second race relegated him to last before he came back
to an impressive 11th at the flag, he put in a solid ride in the
final race to finish an impressive fifth. Overall he moves
into eighth in the Championship standings.
Maxxis Henderson LPE Kawasaki's Bryan Mackenzie started strongly
in the MX2 Class with a sixth place in the first race followed by
third place finish in the second moto. After going down on
the first corner in the final race, he recovered to finish in a
creditable eighth position to end the day in overall fourth place
and move into fifth in the standings. There were mixed
fortunes for team mate Connor Walkley, who crashed out of race two
after finishing 12th in the opening race, but then he pulled his
best start of the day in the final moto to produce an excellent
ninth place finish for his best result as a Pro rider.
In the MX1 class Maxxis Henderson LPE Kawasaki rider Gert
Krestinov suffered a series of crashes in the opening moto to
finish down in 17th. However, he was determined to put the
disappointment behind him and went on to post two fourth place
finishes in the following two races to finish in a strong seventh
overall on the day and now lies sixth in the Championship.
The next round of the Maxxis British Motocross Championship
takes place at Foxhill, Swindon on July 24. Follow the action

AMCA MX1 British Championship
There was further good news for Maxxis at round four of the AMCA
MX1 British Championship at Brookthorpe, Gloucestershire,
where Maxxis Henderson LPE Kawasaki rider Lee Dunham displayed
great character and determination to not only fight off an
energy sapping virus and compete, but also to earn a
SUPER podium place and increase his title chasing advantage in
the process.
This excellent result means that at the half-way stage in
the AMCA MX1 British Championship Dunham holds a 29 point advantage
over his nearest rival, Brad Turner.
British Masters Motocross Championship
Meanwhile, Maxxis Apico Suzuki rider Steven Clarke reaffirmed
his fine run of form by storming to his first race win of the
season at the British Masters Motocross Championship.
Following heavy overnight watering of the track at Milton
Malsor Motoparc near Northampton, the rescheduled
venue for round five of the series, Clarke struggled initially with
the tricky conditions, but then demonstrated his real pace in the
second moto. Having started high up the order in fourth, he
took the lead on lap five, extending it to over nine seconds at the
chequered flag to score his first win of 2011.
