AutoSport International is ‘A Resounding Success’ for Maxxis

With great feedback translating into enquiries about its high
performance range and a positive endorsement of the Maxxis
2011 calendar and the new mobile phone app plus big crowds
on the stand, tyre manufacturer Maxxis
International's first visit to AutoSport International was
a resounding success.
Maxxis certainly enjoyed a high profile at the
four-day show: its striking orange and black livery made for a
stand out presence as key high performance tyres were showcased on
a Caterham 7, Ferrari Scuderia 430 and KTM XPO and
Maxxis used a road-going version of the Kawasaki
Ninja ZX-10R Superbike and a motocross bike to promote its
credentials as a specialist in high performance road and
purpose-designed off-road motorcycle tyres.
Most exhibitors took the opportunity to organise launches at
AutoSport International and Maxxis was no
exception. The show marked the public debut of the new
maxxis.co.uk website, the 2011 corporate
hospitality unit, the 2011 international sports sponsorship and
burlesque Maxxis Babes calendars and the new
Maxxis mobile phone app.
The chance to get close to the drift cars that
Maxxis-sponsored teams/drivers will be using in
the Maxxis British Drift Championship this year
proved to be a major crowd-puller. All day long performance
motoring fans jostled for the best view of Team Japspeed's new 1JZ
Subaru Impreza drift car, which will be piloted by 2009 BDC
champion Steve Biagioni, and Mark Luney's SATS Cosworth Supra,
while queues for signed posters of drivers, and the Maxxis
Babes, snaked around the stand.
Further promoting Maxxis' motorsport
credentials, Team Japspeed officially opened AutoSport
International's Live Action Arena, which boasts the UK's largest
tri-oval indoor racetrack and a 4,700-seat grandstand. Shane
Lynch and Danny Eyles put on an impressive display, including
drifting reverse figure eights towards one another - the first time
this stunt has been performed professionally by a UK team.
Since the two cars cross paths in the middle of the arena, it is a
particularly risky move that demands inch perfect positioning and a
constant speed.
"AutoSport International was an incredibly successful show for
us. The stand was one of the biggest at the NEC and one of
the busiest throughout the three days, and we had some really great
feedback, especially about the new ZR9 UHP radial and our sports
sponsorship for this coming season," said Maxxis
International UK's managing director Derek McMartin.
"Our aim is to reach the UK's growing number of dedicated
performance/styling/tuning enthusiasts because we recognise, from
our involvement in some of the major performance cars shows last
year, that this is a sector with huge potential. Promoting
the brand at AutoSport International enabled us to make a major
impact with a key target audience".
Film maker Stephen Brooks, who produced a series of drift videos
capturing the excitement of last season's Maxxis British
Drift Championship, was busy with his camera at AutoSport
International and his short film, entitled 'Maxxis 2011 -
Are you ready?'
