Auto Zeitung, one of the most highly-regarded motoring magazines in Germany, has conducted a 20-tyre test of 225/50 R17 summer tyres and concluded that the Maxxis Premitra HP5 is ‘very recommended’ and the ‘recommendation for value’.
The test, made up of wet and dry handling and braking, aquaplaning, slalom, noise and rolling resistance test, with additional point-based assessments for comfort and driving safety, is a comprehensive evaluation of the current summer tyre market.
The Maxxis Premitra HP5 achieved the best result in dry handling, and the third-best result in the slalom test and the wet handling test, beaten in wet handling only by the competitor tyres awarded first and second place in the tyre test overall.
Looking at the points, Maxxis achieved an excellent fourth place overall, and was awarded not only the ‘very recommended’ label but also the ‘recommendation for value’.

The tyre was also found to be reassuring to drive, with the tyre rated as the tyre with the safest feel in the dry and the third safest feel in the wet when compared with all the other tyres in the test.
