Maxxis supports grass roots sport
Tuesday, July 21, 2009
While its new three-year deal with Liverpool FC, sponsorship of the 2009 Isle of Man TT Races, ongoing role as title sponsor of the Maxxis ACU British Motocross Championship and increased involvement in professional drifting tend to make the biggest headlines, tyre manufacturer Maxxis remains very much committed to grass roots sport.
Most recently Maxxis sponsored two Kenilworth Wardens youth teams, which play matches every Sunday in the Mid-Warwickshire Football Leagues. Last season the Under-9s were among 66 teams competing in the Mid-Warwickshire Junior Football League and they finished fourth in Division 1 and made the quarter final stage of the League Cup.
Meanwhile, the Kenilworth Wardens Under-13 team was one of 99 teams playing in the Mid-Warwickshire Boys Football League. They were runners up in the League, after a highly competitive campaign, and then rounded off an excellent season by finishing runners up in the League Cup too.
“The stars of tomorrow have to start somewhere and we are delighted to do our bit to help teams like these young footballers, who demonstrate a real aptitude, ability and enthusiasm for their chosen sport,” says Maxxis UK managing director Derek McMartin.
Kenilworth Wardens coaches Paul Calver and Rob Anderson say the new team kit provided by Maxxis created an important sense of identity for the boys, reinforcing a good team spirit which is essential, especially when playing away matches against stern opposition.
